If you have an existing account; you don't even need to enter the key.
But if you don't have any empty slots or if you want a friend to try out the game; you can use that code to make a preview account. It will be completely inaccessible after the event is over.

Actually, it will be accessable again during the next event. They didn't give out keys for the Nightfall PvP preview event, but if you had an account made with preview keys for the Factions PvE/PvP events, you had a (more) limited access to the event.

Yeah; but the next event wont be until just before campaign 4. It will be inaccessible until then.

A few days ago someone kept saying that Anet was going to delete all the Elonian characters after the event was over (don't remember what thread it was in..). But like I said; they're just reseting them like after the Factions event; not deleting them.

That was, btw, Tetris L, on page 1: "Warning: All characters created for the event will be deleted after the event is over..."

I don't blame him, though, he was just following what Anet had written on the official pre-release statement. Glad it's clarified now.

So i got a question, if i add the prerelease access key to my account, will the 10hours start counting? if not, when will it start counting? Because i dont have any empty character slots right now but i dont want to make another account... so im trying to use the extra character slot the prerelease gives me to try nightfall out. Or is the bonus character slot even avalible right now?

So you can't take you Tyrian/Canthan characters to Elona then? It wasn't in the guide but I could of missed it because I've been up all night waiting for the ultra delayed update... they lied it wasn't ready at 5am PDT... I waited 2 more hours for it.

That's a good question. I would think "yes, you should delete the character if you want to use their names in the future.

Otherwise, the name might still count as being used, even though they are in a "locked" account. I don't know how long the "temporary" characters are stored before they are deleted by Anet.

To be safe, I wouldn't use any name you want to use later on on your "real" account.
